I had been hearing rumors that ChumpCar was going to race at Daytona. The regular 2.2liter MR2s that we race with the ModSquad team just wont have the nuts to be competitive on such a fast track. So I decided to build another MR2 that would.
After looking for parts to upgrade the MK1.22 I was contacted by a fellow MR2 owner that had a parts car for sale. He said that he was going to send the car off to salvage, or I could have it for what he had into the car. $500 later I had a new MR2! Number 10 of my long MR2 ownership!

So I loaded up my trailer and headed to Columbia, Maryland to pick up the $500 1991 Toyota MR2. Automatic transmission, 5sfe, sorta ran and loaded with spare parts.

So I started buying up parts to start the conversion to a full fledged super speedway race car!

The stock radiator is toast. It is totally rusted and falling apart. I had a spare Chinese made rad and will use this, and it is actually much cheaper than the OE radiator.

You can see the stock rad being held in place with wire. The bottom support is missing.
