The weather warmed up to about fifty degrees. The snow is still not melted. But I was able to get a lot of work done.

I started out with the roll cage. Since I cut the cage from my other race car, I cut and notched sleeves that will be sipped over the sections and welded into place. The SCCA GCR gives instruction how to make sleeves and the proper procedures to weld them into place, thus keeping the cage safe and strong. I wont be welding it into place until I get the front window out, and I'll need to level out the chassis to make certain everything is square. Welding in the cage in a not level/square chassis will make for an ill handling car.

I got the seat rails bolted to the Kirkey aluminum intermediate road racing seat. The adjustable rails are bolted to a mount I made a few years back for my Sparco seats for use in the V8 MR2. I need to weld a strip of steel to the mount to complete the install. Need to go to Lowes and pick up some weld steel later this week.

I then went to work on the lighting. Since we will be racing for 24 hours I'll need some good lights. The light system I made for the MK2 MR2 is not what I want to use again. They really sucked at speeds over 100mph. The actually really sucked at speeds over 55mph. Cheap department store driving lights made in China. Not what I would ever recommend again.

So I am going to use the stock AW11 pop-up headlamps with PIAA H4 bulbs.
H4 SERIES INTENSE WHITE
The Name Says it All! PIAA’s Intense White bulbs produce a more radiant white beam without any hint of blue. This bulb has been completely re-engineered from the ground up. What you’ll see in the 9005 and 9006 bulbs is a larger glass tube with a white top coat. The larger glass tube increases output (28% whiter color than STAR WHITE) and allows the bulb to burn at much cooler temperatures. PIAA’s new Intense White Bulbs provide the best possible balance between performance and bulb life. 60/55w = 135/125w, 4100K

I may also add two more driving lamps to the hood.

I also installed the stock rear tail lamps. No need to spend more money when I have stacks of rev1 MR2 rear tail lamps. Keep it simple.
