Today was spent removing the old 4age that was in the car, or actually what is left of the 4age. This car sat around in a barn and in a farm field without the head on. Since the engine does not want to be pulled when it is in gear, I suspect that that the engine is rusted together. No worries, I have a new economy engine to install, the Toyota 5SFE from a 1993 Toyota MR2. This engine is also installed in the Camry. Bullet proof and able to take a beating. It may not have huge power, but it can go round the clock and get great miles per gallon on regular unleaded fuel. Race gas is fun, but when you are racing on a shoestring budget, every penny counts, and unleaded regular pump gas save a ton of that cash!

I started by removing the side side skirts. No need for these, they just add weight.

They are actually in great shape with no cracks. They would need a new KBox skirt rubber kit, but that is it. $40 plus $15 shipping to whoever wants them. Here are the included triangle sections.

Now some of the screws are missing, but all that came off are sorta good. You may want to get new hardware.

Kinda fuzzy, but there is a lot of rust here and a lot of missing sheet metal.

The passenger side was not so bad, not good, but not all that bad.

Here is the passenger side rear suspension. No clue who made the spring, but it has a Koni inside. The brakes are getting replaced. Notice the brake pad?

Here is the drivers side. Notice the absence of brake pad? Also there is not rear sway bar. I have a red one that will fit fine. There are also adjustable end links installed. They were kinda stiff, but once I moved them around and lubed them they started to move around okay.

Here is the drivers side rear Koni... notice the rust? The other side is the same.

I then jacked the car up as high as I could, drained the transaxle fluid, removed the axles, and dropped the engine to the ground.

Really nice crack on this 4age manifold!

I then removed the firewall insulation. No need for it since it is a race car and we don't care how loud it is in the cockpit! Also removed stuff we wont need like the cruise control actuator.

Here is a stack of stuff that was not needed.

And the fire hazard stuff.
